VBS Volunteer Details

We have classes planned for children of all ages. each class (up to middle school) will have one set of teachers that is inherently responsible for the children in that age group. we highly recommend this be a married couple or two-three friends so that the job is not overwhelming. your main job is to teach the assigned topic that night in the 30-minute class session. They are the direct connection to the children. This is the most important job in all of vbs. we strongly encourage anyone with an educational background to consider this.

Each class needs at least 4 assistants to add the teachers, monitor the classroom, and keep the time orderly and efficient. these individuals will not be responsible to teach the material, but they are expected to know it so they may assist the children. We strongly encourage anyone with experience teaching in their respective bible class program to consider this.

This job is for anyone who is artsy, crafty, or just good with your hands. the children ages 5-11 will each have a 30-minute craft time every night. during that time, we will need many volunteers to keep them on target, to keep the material organized and clean, and to assist the craft supervisor.

Each night we’ll provide a meal beginning at 6:00 pm for anyone who’d like to attend. we will also provide a snack for all classes during the vbs time and after as well. These people will be responsible for set-up, serving, and clean-up of all activities in the cafeteria.

An extensive amount of work will be necessary to register the children, monitor the children and the building, and see that all children make it home safe. anyone with good organizational skills is encouraged to help in this area.

There is quite a bit of work to do before vbs gets here. we need help constructing a boat, designing the “stage” area, cleaning the school property while we’re there, and setting up and tearing down before and after VBS.
